Love:

* Snug’s summer antics. I had forgotten about this thing Snug does when we run our box fans. He positions himself either in front or behind it and then YOWLS into it at the top of his lungs. He likes the sound of fan distortion, apparently, because he’s been doing this every summer for awhile now.

* It’s August! Tony’s birthday month! Our anniversary month! Four months until Christmas! This is exciting stuff, folks!! I keep telling him that his third job is playing the lottery, so maybe for his birthday he’ll finally win — the lottery from a broke state. HA HA!

* Finally, finally, finding a GYN and his office staff that I like — the whole package (see previous post). I can’t believe it. Best experience of having my bottoms off and on the table, ever (except for my RE, that is).

* Someone at my work did something right with their tomato plants. The person brings in a large bag every Monday morning and leaves it in the kitchen for everyone to share. I wish I knew who it was, because I’d love to tell them thank you!

* While my fancy-pants watch is in the shop getting a new battery, I bought a cheap thing on clearance at Big Lots! The flowers on this thing appear and disappear and I could stare at it all day. Never has time going by been so fun to watch before!

* Summer swims in the outdoor pool. These wonderful swims are what I think and dream about while swimming inside at the gym during the winter.

Loathe:

* Searching for stuff only to learn that it’s been discontinued. For example, I have a Kensington Pilotboard Multimedia Keyboard at home that I bought three years ago. I love everything about it and would love to have one at work, too. But guess what? Kensington no longer makes it. Grrr. Cosmetic companies discontinue stuff ALL THE TIME and it makes me crazy. I feel like I have to stockpile stuff when I like it because next time I go to the store, it might not be there. I think I may have a glimmer of understanding for hoarders, because I think it probably all started with the “discontinued” error.

* People who talk on their cell phone in a public restroom while using the toilet. When I encounter that, I intentionally become a multiple flusher, but it matters not to them. The one I encountered this past week at work was sitting on the toilet grunting and plunking and talking mid-plunk. So gross.

* Traffic. I now have to take one of the horrific California freeways to get to work. My other option is a surface street with traffic lights. So I take the freeway. I thought I had figured out the traffic patterns and it worked great for three days last week, leaving my house 5 or 10 minutes earlier than usual I missed all the traffic. Apparently I was tricked, because my strategy isn’t working this week.

One Last Thing:

This past Sunday, I was walking back to my car after swimming and a butterfly caught my eye. It was fluttering up and down, in giant circles, at the will of the breeze that was following the bank of the road up the hill. I increased my walking speed, got back to my car and grabbed my camera. I looked for the butterfly and caught a glimpse of it, but then it was out of range. I saw it again, then lost it, saw it, lost it, and finally just decided to take a wild shot, not even hoping that I captured it photographically. When I downloaded my pictures, I was stoked to discover that I actually did get it in the picture I took. What a lucky shot!

Cropped to the butterfly:

Funny Snug. He cracks me up even just reading about him.
You may decide the cheap watch is actually better.
If more tomatoes appear Monday. leave a thank you note with space for everybody to sign.
    Glad you “caught” the butterfly.
    Love you,

Snug makes me laugh all the time, he’s such a clever kitty. πŸ™‚

Well, I got the call that my fancy-pants watch is ready for pick-up, I forget if I mentioned that it won’t cost as much as they thought it would, so I should be good for another 4-5 years now! Yay! I really like that fancy-pants watch a lot. But this $5 watch is a close second… ha ha second, like time passing, hahaha!

More tomatoes showed up on Friday — wow! I love our tomato person.

It is my birthday month, there is nothing else going on this month, lol, nanananana, IT’S MY BIRTHDAY MONTH, I’ll party if I want too, hehehe, XXOXXOXOXO
    I like the butterfly picture.

Hmmmm, I’m pretty sure there’s something else going on this month. I think so, but I’m not sure, but I think so… ha!
    Butterflies are beautiful. πŸ™‚

We were at my parent’s yesterday and Mia discovered the joys of yelling into the fan. heh.

Yay, August! πŸ™‚ I still can’t believe how fast this year’s flying by! Feels like it was JUST Steve’s birthday!

And hooray for a good GYN! And tomatoes! And the butterfly and everything else that makes you happy! πŸ˜€

    *muwah*

I never understood why ANYONE would talk in the restroom. That’s just crazy. It can’t wait a couple of minutes until after you go to the restroom?!

There is no rhyme or reason to SoCal traffic. Blah. Sometimes when I go to pick Mia up from Grandma’s, I can leave at 2:30PM and be stuck in traffic for an hour. Other times I can leave at 4:30PM and have no traffic. It’s retarded.

Aww, Mia is so adorable. hehe πŸ™‚
I love things that make me happy. πŸ˜›
People need to have cell phone etiquette classes. I don’t know what’s wrong with them. *eye roll* Sometimes i’ll go pee if I’m on the phone with my mom, but I can’t imagine grunting and plunking and stuff. *shudder*

Yeah, good point about SoCal traffic. There’s no set pattern except that it might be there or might not be there.

  4. You should make a video of Snug yowling into the fan and post it here!

I agree re: discontinuing items. The worst is New Balance. They change/discontinue their models every year or so, and it drives me crazy because I can’t just go in and get what I want–I have to do the whole shoe-trying-on thing all over again.

I actually have to take my cell phone to the bathroom with me. I started doing that when I realized that Hubster only manages to call me when I’m on the toilet. Everytime I forget to bring it to the bathroom, I miss his call! I would never grunt and plop while chatting, though. Ugh!

    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Gah! If I could get a video, I would… I snapped the picture and then he sees the camera and disappears. I’ll have to be more sneaky!

Oh man, that sucks about the shoe — how often do you buy new?

πŸ˜† Yeah, Tony was doing that to me for awhile. Calling only when I’m in the restroom. He was also for awhile getting home the exact second I would get out of the shower after swimming. Like, how did he know I was naked at that exact moment in time???

OMG! Snug’s antics with the fan reminds me of my summers in the Philippines when it would get too hot and my sisters and I would fight for a good spot in front of the fan and whoever wins gets to sing and yell into the fan to make that weird and funny sound!! I completely forgot about that! πŸ˜€

And I love that watch! Do not set it down cause I will steal it. I’m dead serious. πŸ˜‰

    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
What a fun memory to have about you and your sisters — thanks for sharing that! πŸ™‚

*tee hee* The watch is in my jewelry box… come and get it!

  6. Hey! I saw your comment on my blog when you left it, and left the notification in my in-box so I’d remember to respond to it — and here we are, ten or so days later. It’s hard to keep up with e-mail, etc., right now!

I’ll post a few pics to my blog so you can see my beautiful baby girl. If there’s any chance you’re on FaceBook, we can add one another and you can see bunches of them!

Hope all is well with you! Is this blog in place of the other one you had for years?

    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Yes, post to your blog, I wanna seeeeeeee her!! — also, yes, I’m on facebook, I’ll send a friend request. πŸ™‚
Also, yes, I imported all my old posts over here…

  7. I always LOVE yout “Love and Loath” posts….I feel I learn so much about you with these posts….

I Too, hate when things are discontinued. And you never know when they are going to do that!! I understand Hoarding more than I am happy about…lol….I have been using the same “scent” for many many years—-at least 25…I LOVE IT. I found it on ‘Sventinents’ on the net at a very very good price maybe 4 years ago…As time has gone on, it is actualy getting cheaper and cheaper, and I am so worried about it being discontinued I buy threee and four bottles at a time. One would surmise from that, that I am a Hoarder!
I so understand the feeling of swimming outdoors—that was the only way I truly enjoyed swimming.. It’s why I so loved belonging to The Amassador Hotel Swim and Tennis Club….When it closed ot was a very very sad day. I never did find anything to replace it.
VERY VERY Cute Watch, my dear!

    LOVE the Butterfly picture!

    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
*whispering* Do you have a special cabinet just for your scents?? Because I have a special cabinet for the items that I’m stocking, and a special box in the garage. Because of that I think I might be a hoarder, a somewhat organized hoarder, but a hoarder nonetheless… 😯

I’m glad you enjoy these Love and Loathe posts, at least they make me think once a week! πŸ™‚

Before you know it, the summer will be over! Eep!
Re: Snug, do you know he STILL goes and checks the corner I stole from him last year for my files, hoping that his little hide-a-bed might be back? That cat remembers stuff like no other cat I’ve known.

    ~Jammie J.

  9. Wow, such a variety: from cat to tomato to gyn to butterfly. Thanks.

    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
    That’s me, Miss Variety! πŸ™‚

  10. You have nice weather in CA. I don’t like going to the pool in the 100+ degree heat here, but just when the weather gets nice, the pools shut down and Texans start talking about breaking out the jackets.
    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The weather has been *perfect* the last few days. *kisses fingers in an Italian sort of way*
Our community has one pool that is shaded halfway with a tree, it’s really nice on those 100 degree days… until it starts dropping seeds in the pool. Eep!
