Love & Loathe — 12/29/09

Love:

* Time with family. It’s been nice having my mom here for this most special time of year.

* Keeping busy and going places. How on earth did I ever have time for a job?

* Driving around with family, loaded up with hot chocolate, and appreciating the Christmas decorations that so many of the neighborhoods around here put up. We really have some amazing stuff in these parts.

* Our neighbors. I wondered why, when I bought my home, I didn’t get the home in the upper part of our neighborhood and ended up with this one instead. Now I’m so glad I did. I love our neighbors.

Loathe:

* Getting sick. It’s been awhile and I thought the echinacea I’ve been taking this year must have helped my immune system. I mean, I missed the multiple rounds of germ infestations at work and several early rounds of family colds and flus. But this one hit me on Sunday and is going through me fast. Ugh. *snort* *cough*

* Being so tired and achy. Really, what do my shoulder and neck muscles have to do with my ears and sinuses being congested?

One Last Thing:

If you happen to watch the Rose Parade on New Year’s day, be looking for Tony on the Honda float (aka the Ship of Dreams). He’ll be on there, with his little, representing the Big Brothers of OC. I’ll be sitting in the grandstands with our parents. Exciting stuff, My People!

I’m glad you’ve been enjoying your time with the family. πŸ™‚

I miss you! But I guess I’ll have to wait until you’re well and you have time for me. hehe.

    Feel better, honey!

The Rose Parade news is so exciting!!! πŸ™‚

    • Time with mom is great! Except I have laryngitis and I’ve been trying to rest my voice so I don’t damage it. GAH!

The Rose Parade was awesome. πŸ™‚

  2. Rose parade grandstands!! Hope you tape it for posterity (and Youtube)

  3. noonie

I hear you on the cold front. Whole family has fallen foul of some bug here too… we managed to pull it together for Christmas.

Amy went to emergency Doc one day and is on the antibiotics, hubby is snoring like a trooper….

Hope you feel better for New Years…. no idea what a Rose Parade is, but I remember being on a float as a kid and it was fun.

    Have a great New Year…

    • I wish being sick wasn’t part of humanity. It just sucks… from the small maladies to the big ones. I hope your family feels better soon. (hugs)

Check the next post I just put up, it recaps the Rose Parade experience. πŸ™‚

  4. sounds like you had a really great Christmas … so glad your mom was there … *huge smile* …

and we’ll have to look out for the honda float!!!

    Happy New Year!!

  5. Sorry you’re not feeling well! Hope you get better real quick.

It sure is easy getting used to not working, isn’t it? I’ll keep an eye out for Tony in the parade.

    • This cold is just lingering on and on. I hate it.

      Working? What’s that? hehehe

Hope you saw him, if not, I posted a video of the media coverage from the 1st. πŸ™‚

Sounds like you’re having a great holiday, I mean, apart from being sick, of course. I’ve been sick too. First the cold, then cough, and now, for some reason, allergies!

I owe you a phone call but didn’t think hearing me coughing and sneezing was something you wanted to do.

I love Christmas decorations too. I just hate the thought of having to put them down already next week…it feels like I just put them up!

    • Being sick sucks. I hope you feel better.

Yeah, don’t call me now, I have no voice. Unless you want me to whisper in your ear to you. πŸ˜›

I think I have to start taking stuff down now. 😦

  7. Oh, do feel better very quickly, Jammie….And how wonderful you’ve had your Mom there for this Holiday…
I’m sure I will see the Rose Parade at some point on New Years Day and I will absolutely look for Tony…Indeed, Very Very Esciting!
Just want to wish you the Happiest of New Years, my dear…May 2010 be a truly WONDERFUL year for you and Tony and ALL those that you dearly love!

This was the quote on your page today: “Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence. True friendship is a plant of slow growth, and must undergo and withstand the shocks of adversity before it is entitled to the appellation.”
    ~George Washington

    Seems rather fitting πŸ™‚

I came by to wish you good health.

    Wishing you lots of love!

  10. tony

Rose Parade here we come. Love you sweetie. XXXOXOXOXO

  11. I saw the Ship of Dreams, but couldn’t make out Tony. 😦
Looks like you had great weather though and I’m sure you’re having a blast as I type this at home in my own jammies. Happy New Year!

    • Some of the media covered the floats better than others. I posted ABC’s coverage of it, which had the best coverage of his float. At best count, Tony got 10 seconds of fame. hehe

The weather was perfect and jammies was the first thing I put on when I got home. πŸ™‚

  12. we paused the ship of dreams in all kinds of ways, but couldn’t make out Tony – so he must have been facing away from the cameras …

just came by, looking for pictures … :o)

we are sunny too – though -30C instead of your 85F

  13. I know I’m a little late to the party, but HAPPY NEW YEAR!
