Love & Loathe – 06/30/09

Love:

* Arugula. When I lived in Fallbrook and had a yard big enough for a for reals garden, I used to grow the stuff and couldn’t wait until it had sprouted tall enough to eat. Now I have to buy it at the store, but I love it no less than I did before. I could happily eat plates and plates of it.

* Listening to pastor David Jeremiah in the mornings when I get ready for work. I get our little bird and we go to church together. Although she’s a little sassy, because she chirps back at him sometimes.

* Ending the day by crawling into bed with my husband. Sweet, sweet solace.

Loathe:

* Bills. They’re like housework. You finish them one week and the next week you’ve got more. Everybody wants money. In fact, I need to pay some of those right now.

* Being distracted by stress. So distracted that I have no idea where my Amex card went. I don’t remember using it to get gas last Friday, but I have the receipt, so I know I did. Called them, canceled it and requested a replacement card. GAH! Or, example #2, I did a fish tank change but forgot to refill my water recycle tank. *shakes head*

One Last Thing:

This plant actually belongs inside the fish tank, but I pulled it out about a month ago to clean it and then decided to see how the fish did without it because it’s a collector of tank debris.

The thing it’s sitting on is a cover Tony built to give a false top to the fish tank to keep the cats off the top of the tank. I tell you that because…

A couple weeks ago one of the cats had barfed on the couch. Yes, on the couch. Disgusting I know, particularly when you consider the irony of the fact that 95% of our home is floored with wood or tile, but the cats like to barf on porous surfaces, apparently, not wipeable surfaces. So anyway, one of the cats barfed on the couch and in that barf were pieces of that plastic plant. Which begs the question of which cat was it and how did it get up on top of that tank?

  1. It’s funny how cats think they are so sneaky and then they puke up the evidence. Enjoy your arrugla and try to de-stress. I hope you are still swimming.

I would really love to hear the cat’s thoughts about why they think a plastic plant would be good to eat. You would think we never feed them. *rolls eyes*

    Arugula is delicious (to me).

Swimming every day. I love swimming.

  2. We actually got rid of our carpets and replaced them with wood flooring because Hideaway Cat was insisting on peeing and diarrhea-ing on those lovely porous surfaces we called carpeting.

Why do cats do these things? We totally modify our lives to placate them, and this is how they repay us!

(But who can stay mad when they look at you with those blinky little eyes and say “Meow”?)

Yep, we replaced the carpet in the hallway upstairs because Snug peed on it… about a year ago now. Thankfully no pee on the couch, just puke, which is easily cleaned up. But still, gross.

The meow gets me every time. (sigh)

Stealthy cats…until they puke up a confession.

πŸ˜† Puke up a confession, indeed. Funny way to put it. πŸ™‚

  4. I like the idea of coziness at the end of the day but I don’t think your husband is my type, so I’ll just let you enjoy that on your own.

Our cat never liked to barf on easily cleanable surfaces either. Ditto for the dog. Stupid animals.

I’m not sure my husband would wanna snuggle with you either… no offense. πŸ˜›

    Animals have no common sense.

  5. sounds like blessings about with a sweet hubby to cuddle with at the end of the day … πŸ™‚

and re cats … indie barfed on our coffee table/ottoman instead of the wipeable floor … ? go figure … maybe it’s a “comfort” thing – they didn’t mean to upchuck, just go somewhere that soothed them … poor things, eh …

Hubby snuggles are good things. πŸ™‚

*shakes head* Cats are strange barfing creatures. How is it that if you hear the dreaded stomach clenching, you can move them and they stop the throw up process?

  6. Probably they all jump up there, it’s an acceptable height. And the plant has those nice fishy smells, so it’s fair game.

    ***
Good point about the fishy smell, but the top of the tank is at least 5′ high and even higher with the false top. Also, the false top is just that, there’s not a solid surface on top of the top for them to stand on. I should post a picture of the view from the top so you can see what I mean, it’s hard to describe.

oh. my. cat puke. that is not pleasant!

i’m not sure i have ever had arugula by itself! i should try it… hehe.

it was good to see you today πŸ™‚

Cat puke is just not pleasant. It’s funny, the sound of them puking used to wake me up from a dead sleep 10 years ago. Now I couldn’t care less, it’s like I wave my hand and get to it when I get to it. If they get to it first, then it magically disappears. hehehe (That attitude totally grosses Tony out, by the way, which I think is hilarious!)

Arugula = I often will pick it out from salad mixes. *guilty look*

Thanks for letting me come by and for feeling up my arm. πŸ˜›

  8. Oy Vey! Not a good think about that plastic plant and the Cats….That was very smart of Tony to build a cover of sorts….! How are the Cats with The Bird??

Interesting about Arugala….I am not a fan of it because I find it too difficult to chew….LOL!

    ***
Tony is a clever and handy man. πŸ™‚
The cats don’t get to see the bird. But they’re fascinated by the birds outside.
Arugula? It’s just a lettuce… I’m sorry you have trouble chewing that!
